A Nationwide Ministry of CBAmerica

Summer-Fall 1997

Al Russell

Ezekiel 22:30, 'I looked for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found none.'

Praise God that is not the case with chaplains. God has enabled CBAmerica to place outstanding godly men to stand in the gap in a variety of places to reach people for Christ. Forty-six chaplains and their wives attended our chaplains conference and the CB National Conference in San Francisco. Their stories of the harvest caused great rejoicing as we realized what God is doing through their ministries. On the inside pages of this issue you will find the pictures of our active duty chaplains. We are asking you to pray for them. They represent one major aspect of chaplaincy. In future issues we plan to share other types of chaplains.

It is encouraging to have more of our churches adding chaplaincy to their missions budget. We need your prayers and financial partnership. I appreciate the churches and individuals who are partnering with us.

Kevin Grenier was endorsed to the Air Force Reserves as a chaplain during the National Conference in July. He took his oath of office August 14 and was assigned to a unit in Denver. Kevin and his wife Lisa serve as directors of the Providence House in Denver, CO. Kevin is a graduate of the Air Force Academy, the Defence Intelligence College and Denver Seminary. He has served for eight-and-a-half years with the Air Force as an intelligence officer followed by five years in the Air Force Reserves. Pray for Kevin and Lisa as they minister at Providence House and also in the Reserves.

Jesse and Mary Staunton are church planting in Rocky Ford, CO, in partnership with Rocky Mountain CBA. Jesse graduated from Denver Seminary and is in the the Colorado National Guard chaplain candidate program. He is presently working with a Field Artillery unit. He is in the process of applying for chaplaincy. Pray for Jesse and Mary as they seek to plant a church and see people come to Christ.

Retired Chaplain Bob Goffrier has put together a useful plan called 'Five Ways Your Church Can Remember Church Members In The Military'. It could be of great help to your church. Call us at 773-477-6923 for information.
